Wan Hai Lines issued an announcement, announcing that in response to the 2030 and 2050 emission reduction targets set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), it will start using biofuels in its global fleet from now on, taking a new step towards carbon reduction goals.
Wan Hai’s 4333 TEU “WAN HAI 510” Taichun has become the company’s first ship to use biofuel. The ship is currently sailing on the CI6 route between the Far East and India
Wan Hai said that through cooperation with fuel supplier KPI OceanConnect, it supplies biofuel (B24 biofuel) certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Verification Unit ISCC in Singapore. This batch of fuel uses methyl ester biodiesel produced from recycled cooking oil and mixed with traditional low-sulfur fuel oil, which is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 20% compared to traditional low-sulfur fuel oil
Wan Hai pointed out that the use of biofuel represents a positive action in reducing carbon emissions and also demonstrates the company’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
