In Southeast Asia, Kerry Logistics plays a pivotal role. At present, the Southeast Asian market is in a stage of rapid development of e-commerce, and countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand have become hot spots in the global e-commerce market. Southeast Asia’s young population structure, rapidly growing Internet penetration, and widespread use of mobile payments have driven the explosive growth of e-commerce.

How Kerry e-commerce is developing in Southeast Asia

According to the “2023 Southeast Asia Digital Economy Report” jointly released by Google, Temasek and Bain, the growth rate of e-commerce in Southeast Asia in 2023 will reach 18.6%, ranking first in the world; data from market research firm eMarketer show that the sales growth rate of Southeast Asian e-commerce in 2023 will be as high as 18.6%, far exceeding the global average of 8.9%. Among the ten countries with the fastest e-commerce growth in the world, Southeast Asia occupies four seats. These data show that the e-commerce and logistics demand in the Southeast Asian market will continue to grow, providing broad development space for Chinese logistics companies.

In order to meet the diversified needs of cross-border e-commerce companies and adapt to the development trend of the logistics era, Kerry Logistics established Kerry eCommerce Supply Chain (Kerry eCommerce), a cross-border logistics service solution expert, to provide B2B and B2C full-process logistics solutions and import and export customs clearance, overseas warehousing, last-mile delivery and other services.

From 2010 to 2015, Kerry eCommerce began to gradually enter the e-commerce logistics market in Southeast Asia. With the help of Kerry Logistics’ infrastructure and partnerships in Southeast Asia, it established an early logistics network and began to establish partnerships with local e-commerce platforms in Southeast Asia such as Lazada and Shopee to provide logistics service solutions.

From 2016 to 2019, e-commerce has developed rapidly in Southeast Asia. With the development of e-commerce, Kerry eCommerce has rapidly expanded its business in markets such as Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. It has not only invested in the construction of more modern warehousing facilities to further optimize the logistics chain of cross-border e-commerce; it has also increased its influence in Southeast Asia through cooperation with other e-commerce giants such as Alibaba and SHEIN.

After 2020, in order to cope with the increasingly complex e-commerce logistics needs, Kerry E-Commerce began to transform to digital and intelligent logistics solutions. Through intelligent logistics management systems and automated warehousing solutions, it reshaped the operation model of e-commerce logistics, making logistics distribution more efficient and cost-effective.
